Starting next year, the European Union is planning to ban the production and sale of all electronic devices using vacuum tubes. As explained by the European Commission, the decision was dictated by the need to stop the climate change by reducing energy consumption and carbon dioxide emissions into the atmosphere. "We can not afford to use electronic devices with such a poor efficiency as tube amplifiers. After the withdrawal of traditional light bulbs with high power, we recorded a significant drop in electricity consumption in all Member States, so we contributed to environmental protection and stopping the global warming. It is hard to imagine less ecological units than amplifiers which turn most of the energy into heat, only for the satisfaction of their owners." - says the Secretary of the European Parliament, Jean-Claude Cretin.
